Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), Virudhunagar is a self-financing institution established in the year 1998 by a group of philanthropists at Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, named after the great leader and son of the soil, “Karmaveerar K. Kamarajar”. The Institution is run by a group of philanthropists who have rich experience of running around 30 educational institutions.

The Institution is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The Institute offers 10 UG programmes and 6 PG programmes. Seven departments of this Institution are recognized as research centers by Anna University, Chennai for promoting research culture in the campus.

The Institute is offering Quality Technical Education for the past two decades. The Institute is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore with ‘A’ grade (CGPA - 3.03). Three of the UG programmes viz., B.Tech. (Biotechnology), B.E. (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) and B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) are provisionally accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi for a period of 3 years from July 2017 - June 2020. In 2017, National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Government of India ranked Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology in the rank band of 101 - 150. As per the AICTE initiative of conducting survey on Industry Linked Technical Institutes 2018, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) rated our Institute with GOLD category in score band of 10 - 30. Currently, 2515 students are pursuing Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes in our campus and 60 scholars are pursuing Doctoral programmes under various departments, which are recognized as research centers.
